The days until October 1st mark the "Countdown to Freedom from Debt," a critical time for the movement to cancel the debt of impoverished nations. At the G-8 summit in early June, world leaders for the first time considered a proposal that would provide 100% multilateral debt cancellation. The Finance Ministers of these governments will meet on October 1, just before the annual meetings of the IMF and World Bank in Washington, D.C. Our Sisters are actively supporting this debt reduction campaign. For more information and suggestions on how you can become involved, please visit: www.jubileeusa.org. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Medical Mission Sisters in North India have a new formation house in Porvorim, Goa, named Divya Daan (God's Gift). The house and chapel were blessed at a Mass celebrated by the newly-installed Archbishop of Goa, Filipe Neri Ferrao. 4 Sisters, and 5 pre-candidates, live in the house. "We were really touched when people from the village brought all kinds of food and gifts, and offered to help before and after the ceremony," says Sister Yumiko Nobue. "It gave us a sense of the early Christian community. For us, this has been a very positive and hopeful beginning." . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . In Sangali, Zamboanga City, Philippines, our mission with the community health workers is bearing fruit. Recently, 14 mothers from one district asked the community workers for health skills training. After training, the mothers began to visit the sick in their neighborhood, put up footpaths over muddy areas, and plant herbs. They look forward to a follow-up training session. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
