Over 30 of our Sisters in leadership from around the world are meeting for 2 weeks in Columbia, Pennsylvania, to discuss areas of importance to our global mission of healing, including interculturality, sustainability, and shared leadership. Some of the participants are new to their leadership positions; many will be meeting other attendees for the first time. Our Sector and District Coordinators from Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas are participating in this Leadership Workshop. We ask your prayers for the success of their meeting.

St. Teresa's Hospital in Mirpurkhas, Pakistan, reached a milestone this year, with the completion of 33 years of service by Medical Mission Sisters. The hospital, which includes a midwifery school and community health program, is now being administered by the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart. 25 of our Sisters have been in mission at St. Teresa's. Sister Sylvia Strahler says, "The hospital was started especially for the medical needs of women, and has always had special regard for the poor and rural population. This is the commitment even today, and we pray that this will continue."

"No Longer Bystanders: Creating Peace in Violent Times" was the theme of this year's meeting of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) and the Conference of Major Superiors of Men. The 1,000 leaders in attendance were reminded that women comprise 53% of our world's population, and were urged to make the empowerment of women the center of their strategies for peacemaking. Medical Mission Sisters, who are members of LCWR, have been advocating the empowerment of women since our founding nearly 80 years ago. To read input from the meeting, please visit: www.lcwr.org.
