Holy Family Hospital in Techiman, Ghana, is celebrating its 50th anniversary during the first week in November. Our Sisters founded this hospital in 1954, and transferred ownership to the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani in 1977. It began as a clinic with 8 beds; today, it has 115 beds, as well as a large number of outpatient services. Over 100 Medical Mission Sisters have served at the Hospital. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Almost one person dies each day crossing the U.S.-Mexico border in search of a better life. Since 2000, the Border Patrol has documented more than 1,500 deaths. Dia de los muertos (Day of the Dead) commemorations on November 2 will remember their passing. Several of our Sisters advocate for justice along the border. For more information, please visit the Latin America Working Group at: www.lawg.org. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Sisters Joan Coughlin and Nina Fritsch attended the U.S. Catholic Mission Association Meeting in early October. The theme was, "A Call for Reassessment and Renewal in the United States." Father John Fuellenbach, SVD, the keynote speaker, gave an inspiring talk on, "The Kingdom of God: The Mission of the Church." For excerpts, please visit www.glenmary.org/Whats_new/
