The Catholic Church is marking 200 years in Jakarta, Indonesia, with a special celebration on May 26, 2007. Sister Lely Ratnawati Kodrata, our District Coordinator in Indonesia, is one of the history team members for the anniversary. She has prepared a history of the Medical Mission Sisters in Jakarta, which will be presented along with the stories of other religious communities and parishes at the celebration. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Sunday, May 20, is the 41st World Communications Day. Communication is vital to our global mission, and to the many partners who share in that mission. Sister Philo Morris, our representative to the United Nations, was a panelist at the Paramaribo, Suriname, Latin America, from May 2 – 4, 2007. Her topic was, “Eradication of Hunger and Poverty through Partnership for Development.” She also had an article on “International Trade and Millennium Development Goals” published in a periodical called “Global Watch” Volume 1, Issue 2, Fall/Winter 2006. It focuses on world trade, and the challenges that have to be overcome in order to reach the goals set for our world for 2015. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Sister-Doctor Miriam Paul (Hanna) Klaus recently conducted a TeenSTAR training week at Kasturbi Medical College, part of Manipal University, in Mangalore, India. Most of the participants were Hindu. The training was well-received, and Sister Miriam Paul plans to return in about six months for a second session.
