Sunday, May 28th, is the 40th annual World Communications Day. The theme is, "The Media: A Network for Communication, Communion and Cooperation." In his message for this celebration, Pope Benedict XVI writes, "Let us together break down the dividing walls of hostility and build up the communion of love according to the designs of the Creator made known through his Son!" Sisters Teresita Camomot and Ester Vite recently completed their first year pioneering our new mission in San Fernando, Bukidnon, the Philippines. Sister Jane Caspillo, who made her First Vows last year, has joined them. They are conducting health skills training in the barangays (local districts), and actively participating in a basic ecclesial community. In addition, they work in partnership with non-government organizations and the Department of Education in the "Adopt A School Program for Indigenous Children." . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . In Frankfurt, Germany, Sister Hildegard Feller teaches children who have a long history of school dismissals, truancy, delinquency, or violence. Many of them have very chaotic family lives. The team at the school consists of teachers and social workers who try to make the school a place where the children and their interests are respected. "Most important is to be a reliable presence in the children's lives because most of them trust no one, not even themselves," Sister Hildegard says.
