Sister Kathleen Fitzgerald, who served as an army nurse in England during World War II, attended the opening of the new World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., with Sisters Janet Gottschalk and Julie Valiaveetil. One of several Medical Mission Sisters who served during World War II, Sister Kathleen cared for pilots and infantrymen who were wounded just across the English Channel. She was interviewed for the Library of Congress' History Project, and proudly wore her "I Told My Story" button throughout the Memorial Day weekend events. She also spoke with several veterans who were treated in or near her hospital. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
