Kenyan Sister Brenda Lung’atso has been elected our new District Coordinator in East Africa. After serving for 12 years in Ghana, her most recent ministry was with the Association of Sisters of Kenya Justice and Peace Commission, where she coordinated the women’s desk and related justice issues. A nurse-midwife, Sister Brenda has also served as our Justice and Peace Coordinator in Africa. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . In India, 19 Medical Mission Sisters, along with six of our candidates, participated in the Second National Health Assembly, held at Bhopal. They made a two-hour presentation on sustainable development, holistic health, and alternate health practices, and staged a street drama on water. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . In Malaybalay City in the Philippines, Sisters Evelyn Anuncio and Lourdes Kangleon have formed a new community. Their priorities are vocation promotion, and the basic Christian formation of young people in the area. In addition, Sister Evelyn is working in the local parish. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The State of Maryland recently presented our Sister Kathleen Fitzgerald with a special award for her over 10 years of volunteer service to those incarcerated at the Maryland Correctional Institution for Women in Jessup, MD. Sister Kathleen has been administering the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Program to the women, helping them to learn more about themselves and their hidden talents. The program also suggests avenues for success in the women's lives after their release that are compatable with who they really are. We congratulate Sister and those with whom she ministers!
