In Loitokitok, Kenya, where Sister Pat Patton is in mission, the entire community participated in a gathering for World AIDS Day on December 1, 2007. Neighboring villagers also came, and presented a play they had prepared. Many dignitaries attended, including the District Commissioner, the District Medical Officer of Health (DMOH) and the Provincial MOH, and representatives from an AIDS project in Nakuru and from the Diocese of Ngong.

In mid-December, a day of retreat and relaxation was held at our North American headquarters in Philadelphia for the women of Interim House, with whom Sisters Gertrude Provost and Jean Schulties are in mission. These women are recovering from substance abuse in a residential treatment program. This year, women who have completed the program and are in outpatient follow-up also attended the program. “The women are so grateful,” says Sister Jean. “They tell us that this special day is a highlight of their time at Interim House."
