Our Sisters around the world celebrate Christmas in many different ways with the peoples with whom they live and work. Families in Peru enjoy paneton, a sweet bread served with hot chocolate, after Midnight Mass and throughout the holiday season. In tribal areas of India, people come together from the outlying villages and bring chickens and pigs for a burra khanna, a big feast. Their drumming and dancing begins after Midnight Mass, and goes on until dawn. In Ghana, West Africa, many people who have moved to the city for work return to their hometown. After church services, the families celebrate with a special dinner of chicken fufu. On Boxing Day, December 26, the Ghanaian children dress up and visit while enjoying gem biscuits, a favorite holiday treat. In the Philippines and many other countries, the Christmas celebrations continue until the Feast of the Epiphany. From our many areas of mission around the world, we wish you a blessed Christmas, and a healthy and peaceful New Year. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
