Kenyan Sister Christine Kivungi, who will make her Final Vows in March, 2007, is serving as the social worker at our new mission in Angiya Parish, in the diocese of Homa Bay. She has worked in youth ministry, and also with the Pallotine Fathers in their HIV/AIDS project in Kawangware Parish, in a slum area of Nairobi. She recently completed training to be a counselor in the Voluntary Counseling and Testing Center for HIV/AIDS that our Sisters hope to open in Angiya. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . In July, Sisters Aquinas Hamilton, Juanita Ortega, and Rosemary Sampon attended a Senate Hearing on Comprehensive Immigration Reform held by Senators Specter and Kennedy at the Constitution Center in Philadelphia. The panel members included: New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson, Hazleton, PA, Mayor Louis Barletta, and Ronald Bird, Chief Economist, Office of Policy, U.S. Department of Labor. Sister Lucy Kavukatt recently traveled to South Korea as one of 3 delegates from India to attend the general body meeting of the Federation of International Movement of Rural Catholics (FIMARC). This organization, based in Belgium, coordinates several rural activities worldwide. Sister Lucy did a study on rural developments in her area of Jharkhand for the Indian Network of Action Groups, a branch of the FIMARC. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
