Medical Mission Sisters have entered into a co-equal partnership with the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in the management and stewardship of Kurji Holy Family Hospital in Patna, Bihar, India. The hospital opened in 1958 as an expansion of our Sisters' medical ministry in Patna, which began in 1939. Sister Leona Areeparampil, MMS, and Sister Teresa Kotturan, SCN, signed the partnership documents in the presence of Bishop Benedict Osta, SJ, Archbishop of Patna. The Archbishop spoke of "a special showering of the Spirit, leading to a rebirth of the spirit of the first Christian community, where sharing of everything in common, with unity of hearts and minds, defined the new faith and way of life." The 2 Communities share a strong commitment to run the hospital as a service institution, and also have a compatible vision and style of ministry.

26 of our Sisters, and 4 facilitators, are in Malawi, Africa, for our Gathering of Sisters around Final Vows. The participants have come from Peru, Venezuela, Germany, the Philippines, Indonesia, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, and India. After spending 2 weeks with our communities in other parts of Africa, they will gather at St. Peter's Seminary in Zomba, Malawi. In addition to reflecting on their experiences in Africa, the Sisters will share their thoughts on religious life, internationality, and interculturality as Medical Mission Sisters. We ask your prayers for the success of this meeting.
