Several of our Sisters and Associates in the U.S. attended 2 important meetings in March. In Washington, D.C., we joined 900 participants from many faiths at the annual Ecumenical Advocacy Days for Global Peace with Justice. In New York, at the 50th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, we learned that the UN is planning hearings in preparation for a High Level Dialogue on Migration and Development to be held next September. Sister Janet Gottschalk has become involved in a new caucus preparing for these meetings. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Friday, April 7th, is World Health Day. On this day, around the world, thousands of events celebrate the importance of health, the dignity and value of working for it, and the need for health care professionals worldwide. Sister Ursula Preusser has established a small taxi service as an outgrowth of her ministry with the Don Bosco Boys Home in Sunyani, Ghana. "This taxi is doing much more than making money," she says. "It helps one small family to climb out of poverty, pays one university student's living expenses, helps him grow into a caring and responsible employer, and provides regular income for a mechanic …it brings 3 young people together for mutual growth."
