Pranic Healing Helping to establish Pranic Healing in India is one of hundreds of ways in which Medical Mission Sisters around the world try to be a healing presence to those in need today. Pranic Healing, a simple and effective method of no-touch energy healing, was brought to India 15 years ago through the efforts of Sister Eliza Kuppozhackel and the late Father George Kolath. Sister Eliza, who traveled throughout India as part of its Voluntary Health Association, was trained in this holistic health method in the Philippines, and in Oriental Medicine in Japan.
“Pranic Healing started with training programs for a nominal fee,” Sister Eliza recalls. “It attracted many priests and religious at first, and large groups attended the sessions.” Slowly, Hindus, too, started to come for training, realizing that its techniques are based on the ancient yogic system of India.
Sister Eliza served as Chairperson and Director of the Pranic Healing Foundation of Kerala, India, for 14 years. During those years, more than 30,000 people were trained. Fifty clinics were established, and 30 trainers were authorized. “The story of Pranic Healing in India during the past 14 years is also a story of multireligious groups of Hindus, Christians, Muslims and others working together,” Sister Eliza says. “We learned to respect and understand each other’s religion and religious culture, and to pray and meditate together. One of my best experiences of being with Pranic Healers is that I could promote interreligious dialogue." “There was a family feeling among the Pranic Healer groups as we struggled to build up unity,” she adds. “Because of this, I could get them organized within a short time to respond to the natural calamities like the tsunami and other social and environmental issues.” Sister Eliza recently handed over her responsibilities at the Pranic Healing Foundation to others. She has found great satisfaction in this ministry. “I am happy that more people are conscious about healing and health promotion through Energy Medicines.”
