| Liturgy of Life
Preparing for and celebrating Liturgy is one of the hundreds of ways in which Medical Mission Sisters around the world try to be a healing presence to those in need today. From our earliest days as Medical Mission Sisters, our communal celebrations have been centered on the Eucharist, and in living fully the liturgical seasons of the year. As a Community, our spirit is embodied and expressed in the liturgies we celebrate, and in the rituals with which we mark significant moments in our life.
When we are asked what kind of spirituality best describes us, we feel moved to respond, a spirituality of life, a liturgy of life. By this we mean that life itself, the dailiness of the journey, is where we find our deepest experience of the divine. It is where we encounter the Spirit who invites us into relationship, draws us into discipleship, and remains to urge us on. Life is a liturgy that opens us up to respond to the signs of our times, the rhythms of Earth, and the heart-cry of people. We know we are blessed beyond measure by our history, both personal and communal, by our relationships and ministry, by the privileges of education and well-being that we enjoy. Gratitude arises joyfully in our hearts, in our song, and in our prayer. It is a necessary way to honor all that has brought us together and sustains us along our path.
The gifts, expressions, and experiences that Medical Mission Sisters of many nations bring to our times of prayer together make them very rich and enriching. Through all of our moments of liturgy, we celebrate the graciousness of our Creator, the opportunities of our times, and the sacred path we journey together in community.
